SERVICES:  Provides free referrals to attorneys that will charge a reduced hourly rate for legal services.  Please call the Lawyer Referral Service office to income qualify for the reduced rates on family law matters, guardianships and simple will preparation.  A $20 consultation fee will be charged for the initial 30-minute in the attorney’s office.  The regular attorney’s fees will apply if the client hires the attorney.  Provides information and referrals to additional legal services and attorney-mediations.

SERVICES:  Program offers legal advice and referrals to Texas residents, ages 60 and older, Medicare beneficiaries, crime victims, and nursing home residents whose access to legal assistance is limited.  Also provides information, advice, and assistance in obtaining public benefits such as Medicaid, food stamps, Social Security, and housing .  Most services are free but callers who do not have low income may be charged a $20 fee.

SERVICES:  Provides temporary shelter for homeless, runaway, and abused youth, and their children.  Includes food, clothing, counseling, medical care, and case management.  Staff will contact the youth’s parents or CPS for consent for youth to stay in shelter.  Children ages 6-18 are given priority.  Youth ages 18–19 are placed rarely, if there are openings.

LifeWorks Family Violence Diversion Network (FVDN) is dedicated to creating a safe community by ending domestic violence and advocating for relationships based on equality and respect. FVDN offers psycho-educational groups for adults (male and female) who have been abusive towards their partners. Group goals include taking responsibility for violent and abusive behavior, understanding the dynamics of power and control, learning adaptive communication and conflict resolution skills, and managing emotions in non-aggressive ways.
