Parent Engagement

Research shows that children are most successful in school when the family and school work as partners. Therefore, parental engagement is highly encouraged in our Early Head Start and Head Start programs.

Parent Engagement is a vital part of our Early Head Start and Head Start programs. The goals of Child Inc's Parent Engagement Content Area are:

  • To include parents in all program areas of the Early Head Start and Head Start programs so they maintain the role of primary educator and influencer of their children
  • To develop the parent's leadership skills so that he/she may feel confident in interacting with other community institutions which impact the lives of their children.

The Parent Engagement Content Area, in cooperation with the other content areas of Child Inc, facilitates these important aspects of parenting. Child Inc provides a planned program of experiences and activities that support and enhance the parental role as the principal influence of their child's education and development. In addition, Child Inc also assists the parents in developing and implementing a parent education program designed to facilitate personal growth and development. Below are ways parents are encouraged to be involved in their program:

  • Parent Volunteer Opportunities
  • Program Monitoring and Development
  • Parent Education Programs
  • Leadership and Advocacy
  • Policy Council
  • Organizational Structure
  • Parent Committees
  • Monthly Parent Meetings
